Today we have the pleasure of introducing April, alwaysapril on Squidoo. She’s a lensmaker who wears many hats, from eBay seller to dog breeder to Mom – and now Lensmaster. Enjoy getting to know her and visiting her lenses.
How did you find Squidoo? I found out about Squidoo from a Facebook friend. We were talking in a group about extra little bits of money to be made from home and she mentioned Squidoo. I was instantly curious and checked it out right away. I began a lens before the day ended.
You’ve written quite a nice variety of lenses already and with your houseful of people and pets, as well as your other interests, likely you have lots more topics in mind. Care to share what’s coming up next? I am working on several different lenses at this time. One is How I Began Selling on eBay — Becoming a Powerseller. It is one that I share my experiences, both good and bad, and tips with eBay as a budding Powerseller.
Another lens topic that I am working on is Successful Tips in Helping Your Teen with Algebra Word Problem. I am a certified Math Teacher and have taught junior high and high school Algebra. This lens will be about coping, surviving, and thriving with the algebra homework. Also, my mind is reeling with ideas of lenses to make, such as: Quilting: a Heritage and a Hobby, Country Sayins' I Grew Up With, Our Lady Sarah Pomeranian Family Member, How-To Make Porcupines – Stuffed Chicken Breasts Wrapped in BACON, and so many more.
What can Squidoo do for you? Squidoo to me is what living in rural America use to be like — neighbors, or fellow Squidoos, share stories, anecdotes, recipes, patterns, and so much more. Squidoo is a community that brings thoughts and ideas together.
Squidoo can offer me a way to share things that I have experienced and known first hand. I love the fact that, in using Squidoo, I can connect to everyday people and learn from their experiences. It is a way to share knowledge and stories that might actually help or entertain someone else. It challenges me to branch out and learn more things by reading lenses and creating them, as well. It can bring enrichment, entertainment and education.

That’s why for this week-long community-wide lensmaking quest we’re looking for new lenses about so-called “masculine” topics… things that a guy might like to read about.. and lenses that celebrate men and male issues.
And yes we know that anything he can do, she can do just as well. This isn’t about that.
This is about growing our library to include more great lenses about things that are less gender specific… guy things if you will… and maybe attracting a bit more male readership to the site in return.
And yes, we’ll accept lenses from the ladies for this one too. All lensmasters are invited to participate in our celebration of men and non-girly topics.
Create a new lens about something masculine, guy-related or none gender specific… something a guy or a not-so-girly girl might like to read about.
Ideas might include but are not limited to: DIY Projects of all kinds, Lenses for the Cars, Education, Tech, Music, Sports and Video Game categories, Lenses that celebrate men who are famous or not-so-famous, or any other male or non-gender-specific idea you have. Get creative and have fun.
Ladies, if you can’t think of anything to write about for this, ask your favorite guy what he’d be interested in seeing more of on Squidoo or better yet, help him create a lens of his own.
We’ll be looking to reward great lenses with purple stars while also looking for lenses to feature on the Squidoo home page. Please note: In order to get a featured spot on the home page, lenses need to have a square photo (no cartoons, clipart or Amazon-type product images) sized at least 250 x 250.
When it’s complete, post your lens right here in the comments section of this post before midnight on August 31st 2013.
We can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
