clubsMy oh my, we’ve had a lot of club quest winners in the last week.

Before we get started with the recap we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our club members for participating and doing it so well!

We’d also like to invite anyone who hasn’t yet joined a Squidoo Club, or Clubs, to get in on the fun.  Visit All About Squidoo Clubs to learn more about our many clubs.

Now on to the winners.

On November first we featured The Road: A Book Review created by lhbeninger as lens of the day.

This lens was the winner from last month’s Squidoo Book Club Quest where we asked club members to write a book review lens about a book they found scary.

These books could be fiction or nonfiction and we received a lot of great stuff.

Visit Squidoo Book Club Quest: Scared Silly to see all of the lenses that were entered and to find something amazing to read next.

On the second day of the month we showcased the winning lens from our most recent So Crafty Club quest.

Stop by, Make a Rag Wreath for Fall and Thanksgiving created by scarlettohairy to learn how you can make something beautiful using scrap materials you probably already have at home.

We were a little disappointed in the amount of entries we received this time but the ones that came in were excellent.

You can see them all by visiting Squidoo Craft Club Quest: Winter Holidays.

The Adventure Club has just finished voting and the winning lens will be posted as Lens of the Day tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Introducing klbhokie

Posted: 05 Nov 2013 05:24 AM PST

Please say hello to klbhokie, a stay-at-home mom with lots of great interests and already some really great lenses. Enjoy getting to know her better by reading our interview then checking out her profile.

How did you find Squidoo? The first time I stumbled across Squidoo was when I was looking for a Christmas ornament to represent our new puppy, Winston- a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I had landed on a gift page for Cavaliers and was impressed by the number of unique gifts the author had found. After a few more visits to Squidoo, I was hooked.

You’ve jumped right in here on the site, making a good number of lenses already. Any hot topics coming up on your lensmaking list? I am a researcher at heart. My family always teases me that I research everything from washing machines to dog food before I make a purchase. So, I plan to pass along some of the knowledge I learn from my research. Also, I plan on writing lenses on one of my favorite hobbies, crocheting. I actually have one in the works right now, so stay tuned!

What can Squidoo do for you? Squidoo has helped me fall back in love with writing. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I worked in marketing and one of my responsibilities was writing medical articles for a hospital. I quickly realized that technical writing wasn’t my cup of tea and I lost my desire to write. Squidoo has brought out my creativity again by allowing me to write lenses about topics I am passionate about.

Introducing The New How To Module & How To Lens Format

Posted: 04 Nov 2013 10:42 AM PST

Last Thursday we introduced the The New Recipe Module & Recipe Lens Format. Today we’re pretty excited to add the How To Module & Format to the list.

The How To Module

With the new How To Module you can add a description, image, materials and the steps of your project along with the total time your project with take, difficulty level and cost. You can find the How To Module in your content tray on your dashboard.

The How To Lens Format

The stand alone new How To Lens format allows you to create one project on a beautifully designed format . Here’s what the new How To format looks like: How To Make A Christmas Rubber Band Bracelet Without The Loom.

The highlights of the new How To format:

-Includes a place to add step-by-step instructions with photos.
-The instructions are printable, just like the recipe module.
-A shopping list (this is really cool). The shopping list takes your reader to the exact items that they’ll neeed on Amazon to complete their project. There is also a shopping list button on the grey tab next to the print button.
- These lenses will receive tier payouts.

This new How To format is the first time Squidoo has offered a completely comprehensive way to share projects with step-by-step instructions. The default topic when you create a lens is Arts & Design but there are many, many topics you could use with this format. For example you could create a lens about …How To Catch A Trout, How To Build A Bird House, How To Clean Your Refrigerator, How To Swap Out A Hard Drive…the possibilites are endless.

We’ll be sending the link to create aHow To Format lens in an e-mail to the Giant Squid and the Rocket Squids. Remember only Giant Squid and RocketSquids have access to these formats. If you would like to join our RocketSquids University please sign up here.
