Time Machine Flashback. We’re going back 20 years to the Best Albums of 1994.

Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Stone Temple Pilots, R.E.M., Weezer, Green Day and Tom Petty had some top albums. As you can see grunge was still kicking. Do you have a favorite? Start reviewing by either clicking on the purple “Review It” button on the lens or pick your own album and get started using this link.

Screen Shot 2014-01-01 at 9.15.11 AMWelcome January and Happy New Year, Squidoo! Have your resolutions ready? Better yet, have you set writing goals for the new year? While resolutions tend to fall by the wayside, well thought-out, actionable plans can help you reach your goals in a hurry.

The SquidTeam has plans for the new year that we know you’re going to love. Look for some awesome lensmaking tips plus some special projects (like this one) to get your creative juices flowing and your lens list growing. We’ll continue to have quests for participants in our Squidoo Clubs and you can look forward to increased activity involving Squidoo’s niche-market magazines, too.

As the new year gets underway, remember to include time in your plan to maintain and refresh your lenses on a regular basis. Reset countdown modules and dump any old, dead links. Add polls or other interactive modules to engage your readers. Re-read lenses all the way through, then re-write portions that simply sound stale. In fact, don’t be afraid to delete old-style lenses with outdated topics. Replace them with fresh new material using our very popular new lens formats. Still haven’t tried a new-style product review lens? If not, you have no idea what you’re missing. The potential is enormous, so don’t be left out.

New to the site? Consider enrolling in RocketSquid University where you’ll receive helpful tips covering basic and more advanced lensmaking skills, as well as frequent quests that challenge you to work outside your comfort zone. Our helpful greeters work along with the tips and lensmaking assignments to get and keep you on the fast track to Giant Squid, still the destination you should be aiming for. Sound intimidating? It’s absoutely not! Our goal is to help you succeed as you work at your own pace. No pressure, we promise, so why wait? Sign up to join us today.

Keep all these things in mind as you’re defining your goals, planning your work, and working your plan for Squidoo success in 2014. Care to share a target that you’re aiming for this year? We’d love to read all about it in a comment below.

-We introduced a new workshop and updated a bunch of modules.

-Next week we’re going to announce the winner of our IMMINENT! challenge. One Giant Squid will win a $5,000 prize package.

-We’ve now got 8 clubs that offer niche lensmaking quests. Join in the fun.

-We now have 5 niche lifestyle magazines with a dedicated editor (Stephanie) who features lenses daily on the magazines, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

-We’re sharing recipe lenses every day on the brand new What’s Cooking at Squidoo Facebook page.

-Tom is over on the SquidooHQ forum. Stop by and share your New Years Resolutions.

We’d love for you to start the new year by helping us share the Squidoo experience with your friends. Simply share a lens, a link to join Squidoo or a community quest with the people you love and care about.
