Say hello to Maria, aka poemsthatdance on Squidoo. She’s a dancer, a writer, a poet, a choreographer, and a world traveler just to name a few of the pursuits that keep her busy. We’re very glad she decided to add lensmaster to her list of credentials.
How did you find Squidoo? I'm always researching on the internet for my projects as I look for what's new. Squidoo caught my eye and I was curious about what a lens was. I like the analogy of a camera and the different lenses that delve deeper into a subject. I have a few blogs on various areas of interest that represent parts of me. Squidoo puts these into perspective. I appreciate the structure with clear expectations, the rewards and recognition. There are no secrets to lens mastering and I feel a part of the team after just a short time joining.
Obviously dance is your passion and you’ve made several wonderful lenses that share your love of dance. I see a couple of other topics in your lens list as well. What other topics are coming up on your lensmaking list? I'd like to venture deeper into the topics I've written as well as spread out into other areas. Squidoo is perfect for lateral thinkers who make links to areas that create a bigger open-ended picture. There are endless possibilities for lens making and I choose topics by listening to my feelings and instincts. After publishing my lens How To Follow Your Dreams I will write about how I used technology to create a visual poster. Life is made up of different lenses and seeing the bigger picture is sometimes one part of that lens, and we don't see the bigger picture until we step back again. I'd like to write more on how to simplify one's life and embracing the digital world. Some of the lenses I will write about are how to compose and sell music online, make jewellery and costume making, writing and publishing poetry, online friendships, beauty tips, budgeting and prioritizing, the benefits of learning other languages, teaching English, travel and career abroad. Relationships are important to me and I want to delve more into this idea that seems to be evolving along with the technological world. There are topics that I haven't researched yet such as App making, playscript writing, and movie making. I will write about these as I learn and experience them myself.
What can Squidoo do for you? Sometimes I ponder around the house and think to myself, this is such a great product that I've been using for years or just discovered. If only I'd known about it earlier. I love recommending products and ideas, and giving advice to friends because I remember how hard it was for me to find what I wanted. On the internet, millions can benefit. By sharing myself to the world my gifts aren't lost or hidden away, they benefit others as I feel nurtured by like-minded people with similar interests who also have valuable knowledge to share. Creating alone has its rewards though it can be an isolating process. I hope that through Squidoo I can make some life-long meaningful friendships. Writing is a way to learn about myself, an opportunity to reflect on what I'm doing as I improve my craft.
