If you’re paying attention to the game, you don’t want to have to really negotiate your food. You just want something delicious that’s easy to eat, and that preferably pairs well with beer or soda, because on game day, healthy eating bets are usually off.

Over at GoodVeg (our Squidoo magazine for everything vegetarian and vegan) we’d love for you share some of your go-to game-day recipes, like this one for Vegetarian Nachos Grande – Our Favorite Appetizer for Sunday Football. And we bet you may make one or two vegetarian dishes, without even really thinking about them being vegetarian. If you have a meat-free favorite, please share a link your lens on it below in the comments, and we’ll in turn, share it with the GoodVeg audience! We’ll keep an eye out for great game-day recipes all the way up to Super Bowl Sunday!

We can’t wait to see what you’re eating (and to make some of your recipes ourselves!)

Brite-Ideas is the “Country Music” Contributor on Squidoo

Posted: 17 Jan 2014 06:20 AM PST

barb2014We’re excited to introduce you to Brite-Ideas, our new “Country Music” Contributor on Squidoo.

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
As we all know too well, life is a compilation of wonderful, sad, moving, painful, and joyous experiences. Each phase of our journey teaches us something new about ourselves; just when we think we’ve finally grasped the handle bars, there’s a bump..then all of sudden, it’s trees and blue sky again for a while. All of it is part of life. Sometimes it’s hard to smile, but none-the-less, it’s the smile that can help get us through. The lyrics and stories in many Country Songs speak to so many of us; as though the writer had a birds eye view of our life. For this reason, it has always been the words to a song that draw me in, and Country Music offers so many emotionally charged songs to choose from.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
As someone who has been writing poetry and lyrics for over 45 years, and recently my own quotes, I’m drawn in by the heart of the words…even a song written in anger, has a piece of someone’s heart in it. I’m honored to read their words and listen to their song. I respect the artist who has the capacity to truly touch a soul…whether it’s laughter, cheerful support or tears.

Who influenced you most?
My parents have been my guide my entire life. I have always had the good fortune of knowing I was deeply and unconditionally loved. There was never a time I doubted that. Through it all, they were always there, providing both a soft place to land or a round of applause; miss you dad. One of the last messages dad gave me before his health failed was, “don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something, trust yourself”. I hold that bit of advice close to me these days. I’m honored to be their daughter.

lj_selfie_small_squareProudly introducing leahjsongs .  She’s our “Coast-to-Coast US Travel” Contributor on Squidoo.

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
This niche is dedicated to the subject of traveling across the vast landscape of the United States of America. It can include nature and landscapes, sightseeing and tourism, travel tips and supplies, best practices for preparing itineraries, historical markers, and oddities.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
I have traveled all over the world and have been on four continents, but I really believe that my home country, the United States of America, boasts wonderful scenery and history. The possibilities in this niche are endless.

Who had the most influence in your life?
A lot of my travels have happened because I am a professional musician and speaker. I grew up heavily influenced by the music of Michael W. Smith and the late Rich Mullins, and they were touring musicians. For me, travel and music go hand-in-hand. Two authors that opened my “travel” world were Donald Miller (Through Painted Deserts) and Dee Brown (Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee).
