glue_gun_slingerToday we’re happy to introduce you to Mickie_G. She’s our “Glue Gun Slinger” Contributor on Squidoo!

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
Basically I will corral lenses with projects that feature GLUES of all kinds. If you look up “glue” in a thesaurus, you will find words like these: adhesive, fixative, gum, paste, cement, epoxy, riveted, and (my personal favorite) stickum. So, that means my herd might include mosaics, decoupage and book repair. If a lensmaster uses an adhesive of any kind creatively, then I will lasso it in.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
You had me at “glue”. I have learned a lot about glue in my time on this planet. It probably started when I got in trouble for eating paste in kindergarten. But seriously, I fell in love with glue when I began to repair books. I learned the different qualities that this substance possesses that are good and, yes, bad.

Who had the most influence in your life?
My husband has had the most influence on my life. I learned from him that one should remember to “think out of the box”. This gentlemen has spent a lot of time showing me how to use tools and has encouraged me to think for myself. I also appreciate it when he pays attention and takes my suggestions seriously. In other words, he won’t go to Home Depot without me.

mschindelToday we’re pleased to introduce you to MSchindel. She’s our “Bangles, Baubles and Beads” Contributor on Squidoo.

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
I’m really excited to be Squidoo’s new “Bangles, Baubles and Beads” contributor! I’ve loved jewelry – and jewelry making – for as long as I can remember. I adore learning new jewelry making techniques and exploring different jewelry making materials as well as sharing what I’ve learned with others and helping them succeed with their jewelry projects. I’ve already built a widely used library of articles on making metal clay jewelry, and I’m looking forward to expanding my library of jewelry making articles to include many different types of materials, techniques, and projects.

I will be building this niche with valuable content for both new and experienced jewelry makers. One of the first things I plan to work on is creating a series of jewelry making projects that are elegant and eye-catching enough that even experienced jewelry makers will want to create them, and also easy enough for beginners to make. I’ll be providing detailed, step-by-step directions with lots of photos and sprinkling in some professional jewelry making tips to help ensure terrific results. The first of these is my Romantic Queen of Hearts Earrings Project . I’ve also written an article on Jewelry Making with Vintage Beads and Jewelry Supplies that includes not only my favorite sources for those materials but also links to some of my favorite beaded jewelry making tutorials.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
As I said, I’ve always adored jewelry! My mom had an awesome jewelry collection, and many of the pieces were gifts from my dad over the years. I first fell in love with making jewelry as a girl after my parents came back from Italy with some gorgeous lampworked Venetian glass bead necklaces. My mom took them apart, combined the Venetian beads with less expensive beads from her local bead and crafts stores and restrung them to make her own one-of-a-kind opera-length necklaces. She let me pick out some of the beads and showed me how to string them and finish a necklace (or maybe it was a bracelet?) of my own. Immediately I was bitten by the jewelry making bug, and many years later as an adult I took a one-day class in bead stringing, started reading and watching everything I could find about making beaded jewelry, began collecting vintage glass and crystal beads, and fell even deeper in love with jewelry making. When friends and colleagues at work started trying to buy my jewelry right off my body, I started designing and making one-of-a-kind beaded jewelry professionally. Later on I discovered metal clay, and that, too, was love at first try. It expanded my jewelry making options enormously. I’ve since added polymer clay and resin to my jewelry making repertoire, as well as some basic silversmithing techniques. My house is overflowing with all my jewelry making stuff! Thank goodness I have a very tolerant and supportive husband. :)

Who had the most influence in your life?

I’ve been extremely blessed to have had many important influencers in my life, including amazing personal and professional mentors. My wonderful parents definitely top that list.
